Ankara and the African Prints!

In the eight years Olusegun Obasanjo was in power, I can only say the youth of Nigeria got two things out of it, the age of GSM and banning of imported goods which brought about the era of Ankara and the rise and rise of the Nigerian Fashion Industry!

Designers like Ituen Bassey and JBL Jewel by Lisa flourish and have changed the look of Ankara. I have a friend who recently lost so much weight she couldn't fit into her old clothes;Easy Fix, She started rocking Ankara tailor made dresses all the time.

The American Designer Boxing Kiten was one of the designers to take ankara international and into celebrities closets. Solange, Beyonce, Fergie and Alicia Keys to name a few, have been spotted rocking Ankara. Kelis has also been spotted rocking Ankara, but not boxing, Nope! Nope!! Kelis has been rocking Jewel by Lisa. Yes our Naija fashion designers are going places

Ankara has spilled over to accessories, bags and shoes. I'll rock any one of these pieces any day any time. myasho.com has beautiful ankara chunky bracelets as well as long necklaces that you can rock with a simple white blouse and jeans. Last summer african prints, which the oyinbo people have named the 'tribal' look coukld be found everywhere, from Topshop, Forever 21, asos. This is not just a fashion trend I believe the African Print is here to stay, amen to that and thank you OBJ!!

THE COVETED BIRKIN

I was having a conversation about bucket lists with a man pal of mine. He informed me how he had ticked almost everything on his list. From attending a world cup match, to going to the Islands, having sex on the plane, bungee jumping, scuba diving. His bucket list was pretty interesting my dears but when he asked me, What I had on my bucket list, at first nothing came to mind, then like an explosion I remembered my beloved "Hermes Birkin" *sigh* I want to own an Original Hermes Birkin before my 30th Birthday! Future Husband, where ever you are I hope you're reading. That is number one on my bucket list for now.
For those of you thinking kini big deal lori Hermes Birkin, After all its all over Lagos. Well let me answer you. Truth be told there are a whole lot of replica Birkins flooding the streets of Lagos. Last week I walked into a Victoria Island "boutique". Lo and behold the Holy Grail of bags sat there, for how much you ask? N70, 000. Lol. If that was the real price it definitely won't be on my bucket list. I'm sure some hard working women, rich daddy's girls and girls with generous "uncles" actually own this bag. But my dear let's face the facts that's rear!

Birkin 101 for those who don't know!

All Birkins are handmade, It take a single craftsman minimum of 48 man hours to produce one Birkin. This makes it about 5 Birkins produced per week! Hence these bags have a waiting lists of six months, Although my good people, my friend who came from Dubai just told me her wait was four months ( I don’t know how true this is) There are even waits to get on the wait list. That's how exclusive it is. But if you're lucky places like St Barts and Florence, Italy have one or two Birkins in stock. A Birkin starting price is about $7,000. Although the Birkin pricing varies according to sizes which range from25cm-40cm, leather which include exotic skins as well as the metal used for the hardware, some are made of diamonds! (If you don’t believe me, go as Victoria Beckham)
So as you can see this bag isn't easy to get, so when next you see a young sisi hoping on an okada with her "Birkin" suspect her......lol

Or your friend that just came back from Dubai with her "uncle" with the Birkin in tow, ask her how long she had to wait, if she says one week suspect her also....lol

The Birkin is NOT only about the money it is the ultimate Status Bag. It screams I have arrived! Look around you while some are screaming, others are screeching....lol

Thoughts on my Bucket List Birkin?, Im really feeling the colour on the left.

Body Magic!!!

Lagosians,
Have you noticed in recent times all the hourglass women you see? Now at weddings and red carpet events everyone seems to have big boobs, itsy bitsy waist and a big behind. I was wondering if I was the only lady in Lagos not hiting the gym hard enough of failing on my pilates classes, until I heard of Body Magic.

Feast your eyes guys,  all the sellers I have asked say it promises the cinch off up to 2" off the waist . Transcending the fat to your bum. It also lifts up the boobies and the bum, as well as dropping 2-3 dress sizes. Its like surgery all at once.

When I heard all this I was sold, I wanted Beyonce's body and I wanted it now!, that was until I spoke to my friend about it. Shes a full figured woman, curvy in every right, so I asked her why she wasn't all in the rave with body magic. She replied, well I want the man and everybody else to know this is my body. Boobs, stomach and thighs. Not some illusion of what I want to be, but what I am. She didnt  want to be 'getting her freak on' with her man and run off to the bathroom and take off her body magic. Hence leaving the man looking at the body wondering where all the magic had gone!!

Ha! I Stole the picture above, can you see the difference, like wow granny suddenly looks 16!
Would you wear Body Magic? Post your thoughts and opinions down below.
